Education and Idaho Public Television's Mission

Idaho Public Television strives for impact and measures success by the ability to educate and inform, to enlighten and entertain. The statewide system provides:

• More than 120 hours of first-quality educational children’s programming each week on both the main IdahoPTV channel (digital sub-channel 1) as well as the HD channel (digital sub-channel 2).
• A monthly classroom calendar for teachers.
• Overnight educational programming on weeknights for classroom use or professional development; multilingual programming for early childhood to adult learners.
• Overnight telecourses on weekends offering college credit.
• Life-long learning and enrichment opportunities on the Learn/Create Channel (digital sub-channel 3) and the World Channel (digital sub-channel 4).

Awards

Idaho Public Television’s award-winning production team continues to be recognized regionally, nationally and internationally — some 40 awards by mid-year. Leading the honors in 2009 is an Edward R. Murrow Award for a documentary on astronaut Barbara Morgan, which also took top awards in four other national and international contests. The OUTDOOR IDAHO 25th Anniversary show garnered a regional Emmy award and topped its category for its creative excellence at Worldfest, Houston International Film Festival to achieve a Special Jury Prize. The D4K Website, an interactive science site for elementary students, also took top category honors at Worldfest in Houston.

Four Over-the-Air Channels

Idaho Public Television has been transmitting four digital channels around the clock, seven days a week, since 2008. Now as a fully digital system, the service continues.

• IDAHO IDAHO CHANNEL (Standard Definition) — Primary national and local programming.
• HD (High Definition) — Local and national programs in HD and wide-screen.
• LEARN/CREATE (Standard Definition) — Enrichment programs for life-long learning.
• WORLD (Standard Definition) — Public affairs and cultural programming.
