Jan Boles

An exploration of the panoramic format has
occupied Idaho photographer Jan Boles for the past
20 years. A black and white image maker for more
than 40 years, recently he has been making color digital
prints. He is also a paper maker and a writer. Born in
Missouri, reared in Texas, Boles moved to Idaho in 1963
following a year at the Art Center School in Los Angeles.
He was graduated from the College of Idaho (BA,
English Literature) in 1965, the year he married Anna
Marie Walton. Since then he has lived and worked in
Canyon County, in Southwest Idaho, as a commercial
photographer, publicist, graphic designer, photojournalist,
teacher, writer, welder, and artist. Currently he
directs the Robert E. Smylie Archives at Albertson College
of Idaho in Caldwell. View Jan Boles' calendar page.
