Idaho Public Television collected nine awards during the recent 43rd Annual WorldFest Houston Independent International Film Festival, including four first place Platinum Awards and a Special Jury Award.
BARBARA MORGAN: NO LIMITS (Student Edition) was chosen for a Special Jury Award for creative excellence, which also nominated the production for a Grand Remi, the festival’s highest award. Out of the more than 4,500 total WorldFest entries, only 63 were selected for a Special Jury Award, and only seven claimed a Grand Remi. The production entered the Educational/Instructional — Children sub-category within the major category of Film & Video Productions.

PBS on Thursday announced the nine awards IdahoPTV received at WorldFest along with 10 other public media winners: ARTHUR, MARTHA SPEAKS, NIGHTLY BUSINESS REPORT (4 awards), ART:21 — ART IN THE TWENTY-FIRST CENTURY; FETCH! WITH RUFF RUFFMAN, THIS EMOTIONAL LIFE, and a project of WGBH in Boston. In addition, a film, which aired as part of the NATURE series, “Cloud: Challenge of the Stallions” also captured a Special Jury Award.
WorldFest is the third-oldest international film festival in North America and the oldest independent film festival in the world. The contest features 10 Major Categories with 200 competition sub-categories. About 15 percent of the more than 4,500 entries submitted receive an award.
IdahoPTV is a statewide public television system with transmitters in Coeur d’Alene, Moscow, Boise, Twin Falls and Pocatello-Idaho Falls, plus a network of 42 translators to extend the signal beyond the transmitter areas.
