As a new academic year begins, school districts across Idaho are confronting a historic cut in education funding from the state Legislature and the challenge of fewer resources in the classroom.

This week on DIALOGUE, host Joan Cartan-Hansen brings back four educators and administrators from around Idaho to provide an update on the impact of budget cuts on the state’s schools. Cartan-Hansen’s guests include Geoffrey Thomas, Madison School District superintendent; Linda Clark, Meridian School District superintendent; Mark Moorer, a member of the Potlatch School Board; and Sherri Wood, Idaho Education Association president. Thomas, Clark, Moorer and Wood appeared on DIALOGUE in June to discuss the anticipated impact of school budget cuts. Now that school has started, they return to the show to share their early perspectives on the reductions as well as their thoughts on the impact of new federal funds for Idaho’s schools.

The live Thursday (September 9) show at 8:30/7:30 p.m. MT/PT will take calls from viewers on a toll-free line: 1-800-973-9800. Questions can also be submitted before the show begins via e-mail at dialogue@idahoptv.org or to the Dialogue Facebook page at www.facebook.com/dialogue. There is no call-in segment on the Sunday (September 12) repeat at 5:30/4:30 p.m. MT/PT. The program also airs on the HD channel (digital sub-channel 2) Thursday at 9:30/8:30 p.m. MT/PT and Sunday at 8:30/7:30 p.m. MT/PT.
